This magnificent refuge is inside you. Enter. Shatter the darkness that shrouds the doorway. Step around the poisonous vipers that slither at your feet attempting to throw you off course. Be bold. Be humble. Put away the incense and forget the incantations they taught you. Ask no permission from the authorities. Slip away. Close your eyes and follow your breath to the still place that leads to the invisible path that leads you home. - St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582)

Having Arrived
This is far from an official post. Just a quick note to note that I have arrived. Day 1 as smooth as can be imagined, complete with prompt takeoff and connection in Lima. House full of sweet young volunteers from England, Australia, Holland, Baltimore and NYC ... and some new ones arriving next week. Met them all over a farewell dinner at a Mexican (!) restaurant in town since the Dutch ones are leaving Tuesday. Tomorrow morning a bunch of us are heading to market. Then Monday my official new routine begins: Spanish lessons by morning, teaching English to Peruvian children by afternoon. Buenos noches for now.
